- Abstract
Multiplicity of proviral DNA of a murine sarcoma virus (Kirsten sarcoma virus), among virus-producing and nonproducing subclones derived from the same parental cell (K-234), was compared. The virus-producing variants contained more proviral DNA of both endogenous helper and exogenous sarcoma viruses in stable fashion than the nonproducing subclones. This finding demonstrates that the gene dosage effect or multiplicity of proviral sequences is a mechanism for different phenotypic expression of virus production. Copyright © 1983 S.
