- Abstract
The modern welfare state aims to provide maximum benefits to its citizens. It has to articulate the interests and fundamental rights of the citizens. Liberalism (government of laws rather than of men) is to protect the citizens from the abuse of power. In Pakistan the People's Empowerment is problematic. Changes at governmental level categorically influence the life of the common people. In 2007, there occurred some positive developments in the form of judicial independence. The dormant and submissive institution of judiciary asserted its role as an independent institution. With the judicial independence, the other two branches of government set new trends within their constitutional jurisdiction. For the first time in the political history of Pakistan, democratic government completed its term. This paper attempts to assess the empowerment of the people within the parameter of the political changes took place in Pakistan during 2007 to 2013. This descriptive analysis of study provides concise results to understand the real empowerment of the people.
