- Abstract
Pavements are more susceptible to failure by detachment of the film asphalt due to climate changes that produce moisture in the tropics. This paper presents the methodology used to assess the effect of humidity on Warm Mix Asphalt (WMA), which was modified by the additives Rediset (produced by Akzonobel) and Sasobit (produced by Sasol) added directly to the liquid asphalt. The compacted mixes were subjected to one (1) cycle of 24 hours at temperatures of 0°F and 140°F known as cold and hot cycles, respectively, in order to apply indirect tension to the specimen. The test allows obtaining a value known as tensile strength ratio, which must be greater than 80% as evidence that the effect of stripping will not be present in the mix. The results showed that both additives reduce the moisture susceptibility of the compacted mixture, thereby decreasing the probability of loss of the asphalt film
