- Abstract
Objective: to evaluate the physical development of hospitalized infants. Method: quantitative, cross-sectional, observational study with 27 infants. Anthropometric measurements were analyzed in the ANTHRO 2007 software, using ratios evaluated in Z scores. Statistical descriptive analyses were performed from figures and tables. Results: it was observed that 51.9% of the infants were male and the majority presented anthropometric measures expected for their ages, indicating satisfactory growth with ratios within the range - 2 and +2 of the Z scores. With regard to fine and gross motor skills, some infants were included in the risk range for they were unable to finish the complete tests. Conclusion: the hospitalization context can influence the physical development of infants depending on the duration and context of this hospitalization.
