- Authors

- Abstract
The article examines the role of entrepreneurs in economic development. Perspectives on entrepreneurship in the social sciences include focus on the role of economic, political and legal institutions in either fostering or hindering entrepreneurship. Institutional problems include credit restrictions that make it difficult to borrow and set up businesses, insecurity of property rights, which discourages entrepreneurs, and regulatory issues that make it difficult to begin new enterprises. The second perspective examines the variables that influence entrepreneurship from a sociological point of view. Another perspective focuses on the individual characteristics of entrepreneurs. The authors undertake a study by looking at each factor while taking the others into account using data on Chinese entrepreneurs.
