- Title
Appearance and Serviceability Characteristics of Men's Durable Press Shirts.
- Authors
Schwartz, Janet Fyfe; Stout, Evelyn E.
- Abstract
Eighteen durable press shirts in 60/20, 65/35 and 50/50 percentages of polyester/cotton at two price levels in each blend were studied through 80 laundering periods for appearance and other serviceability properties. Sets of five photographic standards each were developed for judging the appearance of collars, pockets and front closings. The photographic standards were deemed satisfactory for further use. Differences in price were reflected primarily in construction details; fiber content seemed to be related to appearance. Such shirts still need improvements in appearance factors.
