- Title
Environmental retrofit: building integrated passive cooling in housing.
- Authors
Schiano-Phan, Rosa
- Abstract
The article discusses the study which examines the building integration and application of innovative porous ceramic (PC) evaporators to the cooling of domestic residential buildings in hot-dry regions. It notes that the PCs can be integrated into the whole building which can effectively maximize the cooling loads in a major refurbishment. It adds that the PC is competitive to mechanical cooling and could result to a remarkable annual energy savings and could reduce emissions and greenhouse gases when applied on a large scale.
