- Title
Willa Cather in Paris: The Mystery of a Torn Photograph.
- Authors
MADIGAN, MARK J.
- Abstract
A literary criticism of the short story "The Profile" by Willa Cather is presented in light of a scrapbook of pictures of travels to Europe by Cather and her friend Isabelle McClung. The scrapbook features several ripped or disfigured photographs, which the author says may shed light on the history behind the short story "The Profile." The author discusses a scar on the face of Evelyn Osborne, another friend of Cather's, and Osborne's insistence that the scar never be photographed.
