- Authors
Lubben, Stephen J.
- Abstract
The article focuses on the credit default swaps, which were primarily used by banks to hedge the default risks in loan portfolios in the U.S. In late 1990s the use of these swaps had spread to the larger credit market and that credit derivatives are no longer an exotic corner of the bond market. By the end of 2006, the International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA) estimated that the overall credit derivative market had grown to $34.4 trillion.
