An essay is presented on the types of communities and its examples. It explores the characteristics of a close community in the form of the family, and a spontaneous one, relating the events of the hurricane Floyd which caused people to evacuate in Abbeville, Georgia and form a temporary community. The author also notes a community's destructive side as well as its influence in an individual's life just like what he has experienced in Brewton-Parker College and Mount Vernon.
