- Abstract
This article is a foreword to a special issue of the Copenhagen Journal of Asian Studies titled "Minority Migration from Muslim Asia." The articles in this issue focus on the migratory experiences of non-Muslim groups, such as Sikhs, Hindus, Syrian Jews, and Bukharan Jews, who left their cities in Muslim Asia at the end of the twentieth century. The authors aim to explore how these groups have maintained their forms of life and coexistence in their new locations, rather than solely focusing on their identity and heritage. The articles highlight the importance of skills, adaptability, and building networks with people outside their communities. The authors also discuss the role of commercial dynamics and translocal orientations in sustaining these minority groups in their new settings.
