Thirty Years of HIV, Part 2: Science & Politics.
- Authors
Schneider, Jr., Richard
- Abstract
This article focuses on several scientific and political concerns related to AIDS within thirty years since 1981. It states that AIDS history has two periods, which are characterized by death and confusion in the first part and hope and normalcy in the HIV community in the other. It says that the development of antiretroviral drugs (ARVs) and progress in understanding its causes separated these two periods. AIDS organizations, patient care, and gay men in old and middle age are also discussed.
