- Title
New Voting Bloc on the Block, Part 2.
- Abstract
This article presents information on gay, lesbian and bisexual (GLB) voters in the U.S. Data about GLB voters have been captured in exit polling conducted at voting areas around the country. Even when the location, election, sampling techniques and data collection methods differ, exit poll samples yield a consistent picture of GLB voters: younger than the average voter, somewhat more likely to be male, much more likely to live in cities; but not markedly different in racial diversity or income. A gender gap has been observed between male and female GLB voters from the outset. It appears that the addition of the word "bisexual" in 1992 encouraged more women than men to add themselves to this category.
