- Title
Evaluation of Landscape Tree Stabilization Systems.
- Authors
Eckstein, Ryan; Gilman, Edward F.
- Abstract
The article discusses the tests conducted on newly planted seven centimeter caliper, container-grown Quercus virginiana to simulate wind loading on nine commonly used landscape tree stabilization systems, plus a control with no stabilization. It notes that four of the systems anchored the root ball and five stabilized the trunk. The study found that the force to failure differed among tree stabilization systems; however, direction was not vital for any individual stabilization system tested.
