- Title
It's Five Minutes to Midnight.
- Abstract
The article reports that "The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists" (BAS) magazine has adjusted the hands of its Doomsday Clock to set at five minutes to midnight, which is the figurative moment of global human catastrophe because of nuclear arms proliferation, global warming of climatic change, emergence of biological and genetic technologies, on January 18, 2007. It is noted that since the creation of the Doomsday Clock, it has been adjusted only 18 times. Its hands have not been this close to midnight since 1984, when tension between the U.S. and Soviet Union increased. In addition, BAS has encouraged immediate cooperation between governments, scientists, industry leaders and general public to destroy nuclear arms and reduce carbon emission to turn back the clock.
