Silicon photonics: Graphene benefits.
- Authors
Liu, Ming; Zhang, Xiang
- Abstract
The article discusses the integration of graphene, a single layer of carbon atoms arranged in a honeycomb lattice, into silicon-based photonic devices in various high-performance optoelectronic devices, including modulators, polarizers and photodetectors. It mentions about graphene-based photodetectors which is superior to germanium-based photodetectors in terms of spectral bandwidth. It also mentions the application of graphene in radiofrequency transistors.
