The article focuses on terahertz excitations in solids for implementing future technologies including spintronics and quantum computation. It states that Electromagnetic pulses in the terahertz frequency range can bring a variety of spin and charge excitations in solids, including plasmons, phonons, and magnons. It states that researcher Tobias Kampfrath demonstrated that the magnetic component of intense, ultrashort terahertz pulses can be used to control collective spin excitations in solids.
