- Authors
Dolgin, Elie
- Abstract
The article focuses on the use of sucrose treatment to relieve the pain of premature babies. It features the study led by Maria Fitzgerald which reveals no difference in the brain circuitry of babies despite their intake of sucrose showed fewer signs of pain. Moreover, Bonnie Stevens of the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Ontario asserts that utilization of sucrose is just part of infants' larger pain management strategy including nondrug interventions such as soothers and kangaroo care.
