- Abstract
The article presents a study on the use estrogen hormone therapy (HT) in midlife on 5,504 postmenopausal women who are at risk of dementia. The study used Cox proportional hazard models to determine the impact of HT on different periods. Results reveal that women on HT only at midlife have 26% reduction to risk of dementia while the women on HT only in late life are at increased risk of dementia by 48%. The study concludes that HT only at midlife can protect women from cognitive impairment.
