- Authors
Panagia, Davide
- Abstract
An essay is presented on the role of luminosity in the films of director Michael Mann. Topics discussed include ways in which Mann appears to show light and the projection of light as the ontological condition of film, distinctions between luminosity and illumination, and instances of photogenic advenience shown by events of luminosity in the nightscape shots of Mann's films. Also mentioned are cinematographic aspects that raise aesthetic problems concerning photorealism and stylization.
