- Abstract
The article offers information about the possible long-term effects of intermittent fasting when it comes to the reduction of microvascular diabetes complications. It discusses the application of the genetic model of severe type 2 diabetes leptin receptor–deficient db/db mice in an aim to study the effects of intermittent fasting versus ad libitum feeding in terms of long-term survival, metabolic parameters, and diabetic retinopathy.
