- Title
Traditional and Non-traditional Students in the Same Classroom? Additional Challenges of the Distance Education Environment.
- Authors
Skopek, Tracy A.; Schuhmann, Robert A.
- Abstract
The article presents information on the situation faced by the distance education system, if traditional and non-traditional students study in the same classroom. It reports that non-traditional students prefer to take education through distance education formats like, online education, and videoconferencing. Universities across the U.S. are offering graduate courses in Master of Public Administration (MPA) and Public Affairs programs through distance education, which has resulted in a mix of traditional and non-traditional students in the same classroom. According to a survey of MPA students, conducted at the University of Wyoming, Laramie, Wyoming, this mix of both student-types is significant for socialization and career development.
