- Abstract
Community gardens are being recognized as a solution to combat food insecurity and promote native bee conservation. These gardens provide a local source of fresh produce, addressing the absence of nutritious options in "food deserts." Participants gain access to affordable, healthy food and reduce their reliance on processed foods. Additionally, community gardens foster education and skill-building, empowering individuals and families to make informed food choices. They also promote community engagement and social interactions among people from diverse backgrounds. Furthermore, community gardens can act as sanctuaries for native bees and other pollinators, contributing to biodiversity preservation and reducing the reliance on harmful pesticides. By supporting and expanding community garden initiatives, we can work towards a more food-secure and ecologically sustainable future.
