- Abstract
Nine species of Dacryodes (Dacryodes canaliculata, D. cristalinae, D. huamaniensis, D. metallica, D. panamensis, D. robusta, D. samanae, D. transitionis and D. yaliensis) are described and illustrated. Seven of the nine new taxa are distributed along the Andean cordillera, from Antioquia, Colombia to La Paz, Bolivia; one is the second known species of Dacryodes from Panama; and one is from Vaupés, Colombia. All species have a restricted distribution except D. yaliensis, whose elevation range is 200–2000 m. The new species are each represented by from only one to three specimens. We discuss the probable causes of an evident slowdown in Neotropical plant collections.
