- Abstract
The article examines the decision of Australia's Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) to place naloxone for opioid overdose in over-the-counter (OTC) purchase list. Topics discussed include data on opioid-related death in Australia from 2000 to 2011, and review of take home naloxone (THN) programs to manage opioid overdose in the U.S. and Scotland. Also mentioned are issues that the TGA needs to address in order to implement a safe OTC naloxone supply program.
