- Abstract
Branko Lipar is president of the Pensioners' association in Mengeš. Before retirement he worked in five elementary schools. Marta Ramovš interviewed him about his life orientation and experiences that led his career in education and his professional life. Certain conclusions exceed educational framework and present important message for everybody working with people, especially with those with special needs: e.g. how one can find social capital in each human being, institution or community, based on their past experiences, present capabilities and in vision for the future. The main theme of the interview is genuine method of intergenerational cooperation in the phase of preparation for retirement, leaving the head position to the successor in due time. Lipar describes his experiences in transferring his knowledge to his younger co-worker by presenting a positive model, allowing handover to the successor and enabling continuation of good development practices of the predecessor. These models of gradual intergenerational transition allow continuation and development. Lipar recognized how important it was that the positive values he had developed continue developing further by respectful dialogue with his successor. In the last part of the interview Lipar' thoughts on ageing and intergenerational cooperation nowadays are presented.
