- Abstract
In this thesis paper it will be focus on analyzing the most important personal and professional factors that correlate with a more positive attitude towards retirement. We also discussed conditions in which we tend to adapt to retirement more successfully. We assumed that the positive attitudes to retirement significantly correlated with personality factors - perceived sense of life, satisfaction with life so far - and personal factors, including the health status, the active use of time and personal monthly income. We have used data from a study by the Anton Trstenjak Institute of gerontology and intergenerational relations titled: "The needs, potentials and standpoints of elderly people in Slovenia: An introductory presentation of the Slovenian 50+ population research" with a sample size of 1047. After analysis we have concluded that health and perceived meaning of life are the only factors that correlate to a more positive attitude towards retirement.
