INNOVATIONS IN A SUMMER INSTITUTE FOR JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL PHYSICS TEACHERS.
- Authors
Becht, Paul A.
- Abstract
The article discusses the innovations in a summer institute for junior high school physics teachers in the U.S. The physical science component of the CCSS Summer Program was taught by Richard Garrett, Associate Professor of Physics at the University of Florida and assisted by speakers Paul Becht and Malachy Maguire. The teachers had an opportunity to view one of the Feynman Messenger Lecture films on physics. The laboratory included tours of various research laboratories and actual use of lecture demonstration materials. Some teachers found it difficult to relate their newly-found knowledge to applications in their own classroom.
