- Abstract
Considering clean energy production, the development of efficient, cheap, and steady water splitting electrocatalysts for oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is imperative. A cost‐efficient approach for MgO extraction from seawater and development of a nanocomposite (MgO/Co3O4) via hydrothermal technique for electrochemical water splitting is reported. Various compositions labeled as C‐1, C‐2, and C‐3 were selected for designing the MgO/Co3O4 nanocomposite. Among these nanocomposites, C‐2 has been found as best candidate for OER with small overpotential values and low Tafel slope values. Additionally, the MgO/Co3O4 (C‐2) composite exhibited stability for thirty hours across the chronoamperometry experiment at 20 mA cm−2.
