- Abstract
This document is an editorial from the Journal of Rubber Research. It discusses the viscoelastic properties of rubber, which make it suitable for applications requiring elasticity, flexibility, and resilience, such as automotive tires, building isolators, and medical gloves. The editorial also highlights how the properties of rubber can be modified through processing techniques and chemical additives to tailor its performance for specific applications. The document mentions a special issue of the journal that includes articles on topics such as 3D printing technology, material science for rubber application and testing, and sustainability in the rubber supply chain. It provides a brief summary of some of the articles included in the special issue, covering topics such as 3D printing with rubber filaments, the mechanical properties of 3D-printed products, the use of polymeric surfactants as additives to natural rubber latex, the impact absorption properties of pottery clay-filled rubber composites, the physical and acoustic properties of natural rubber foam, the rheological properties of silicone rubber nanocomposites, the durability of high-damping rubber bearings, and the sustainability and resilience of the rubber supply chain in Iran. The editorial concludes with acknowledgements to the authors and reviewers of the special issue.
