- Abstract
A literary criticism of the book "Amtmandens Døttre" ("The District Governor's Daughters") by Camilla Collett is presented. Particular focus is given to the place of the novel in Norwegian history, the social criticism that it raises, and the role of the seter environment where the romance between protagonists Sophie and Georg Cold takes place.
