- Abstract
An analysis of the drama Intisār al-Fadīla aw Hādithat al-Ibna al-Isrā'īliyya from the Lebanese author Antun Shihaybar points out that Shihaybar's play can be named an adaption of the classical drama Nathan der Weise from the German dramatist and philosopher Gotthold Ephraim Lessing (1729-81). Further, the article shows Intisār al-Fadīla aw Hādithat al-Ibna al-Isrā'īliyya as an adaptation of Nathan der Weise is a typical example of the modern Arabic theatre of this time as well as a reflection of Lebanese society with special regard to Jewish Lebanese society.
