- Abstract
In the present study, the numerical simulation of the gravity currents of free surface flows by means of the incompressible smoothed particle hydrodynamics (ISPH) approach is performed. First, the model is rewritten using the ISPH method, and then, the neighbor detection technique, time step selection criteria, and boundary condition treatment are presented. Afterward, it is used to simulate the famous test cases, namely shear-driven cavity, impulsive vertical flat paddle, dam break over dry bed, solitary wave run-up, and rigid landslide into the water. Finally, the results are obtained and the generation of tsunami waves due to the underwater landslide movement and its interaction with water are faced, and hence, the generation and propagation of surface tsunami waves are observed.
