- Abstract
Objective To study the automatic planning method of CT-guided ablation of liver tumor, in order to guide or assist the clinician to automatically plan the insertion trajectory of ablation needle, and improve the effectiveness and safety of ablation of liver tumor. Methods Based on the improved cube mapping algorithm, the feasible puncture(needle insertion)area satisfying the hard clinical constraints was obtained by binarizing the bounding box surface of patients’ CT images.According to different soft clinical constraints, the gray-scale constraint maps were generated respectively. Finally, the grayscale constraint maps were integrated by weighted product. The integrated constraint map was used to select several optimal puncture trajectories in the feasible puncture area for physicians. The puncture trajectories generated by the algorithm were qualitatively compared with those manually planned by two physicians. Results More than 78% of the planned trajectories generated by the algorithm were considered to be effective, more than 39% were better than those manually planned by physicians, and the planning efficiency of this algorithm was higher than manual planning by physicians. Conclusion The puncture trajectory planning algorithm for CT-guided thermal ablation of liver tumors proposed is expected to guide clinicians to execute preoperative path planning.
