- Title
Can David Wagoner, Poet of Nature and the Environment, Qualify as Eco-poet?
- Authors
MCFARLAND, RON
- Abstract
The article discusses whether David Wagoner, who wrote poems on nature and the environment, can be put in the category of eco-poets. It refers to his first book "Dry Sun, Dry Wind," which had atleast half of the 30 poems pertaining to nature. It adds that poems as "A Guide to Dungeness Spit" and "Traveling Light" reveal his experience of communing with nature, but in other poems, like "Standing in the Middle of a Desert" and "To a Farmer" the self-criticism element becomes palpable.
