- Abstract
The article focuses on research which has been conducted in an effort to understand complexities in intergenerational relations between older people and their adult children that have developed in society as a result of an increase in longevity and better health in older people. A discussion of research which was conducted on the role that ambivalence plays in intergenerational relations and which was contained in an article by Karl Pillemer and J. Jill Suitor that was titled "Collective Ambivalence: Considering New Approaches to the Complexity of Intergenerational Relations," is presented.
