- Abstract
This article aims to analyze, in a integrative way, the scientific articles that relate social control to accountability, published in journals available on the SCIELO platform. As a search strategy, studies on the topic, restriction criteria and search strings were filtered in 4 stages, generating a final sample of 18 articles whose themes met the research question. The results were sectored and presented in subsections for a better understanding of the approaches. The analyzes showed that in the field of health there are more studies related to the subject, totaling 52%, in the case of other public policies, the results were as follows: Social Assistance 8%, Education 12%, Sport 8%, Any and all public policies 16% and Work 4%. The content of the articles found proved to be satisfactorily diverse. It was concluded that, although there are few publications that base social control on the precepts of accountability, the articles found reveal that the exercise of control can be carried out in different ways, which goes against the studies of formal instances of participation and social control.
