- Abstract
Coins have gained great importance in the history of the Emirates of the western coast of the Arabian Gulf, as they are the substance and strength of commercial activities. Therefore, Emirati people were persistent to acquire them to ensure the continuation of their various commercial activities, using all means of transportation available at the time to achieve this. They were keen on using bank and personal transfers when they were given the opportunity, which reflected to the ability of Emiratis to utilize the available resources properly at that time. This study aimed to review the most prominent methods used to transfer coins in Kuwait, Bahrain and the Trucial Coast between 1929 and 1947, an era known for its importance in the economic history of the Arabian Gulf, given the major economic and political events that occurred in it, such as the global recession (1929-1933), and World War II (1939-1945). The study also included accurate details that took place during currency shipments, and presented part of the beginnings of procedures for securing them from potential risks during the transfer by using published and unpublished local and British documents.
