- Abstract
Narrating is a complex and difficult activity as there are many factors that can impede the flow of speech. This article focuses on Alexandre Veras' medium-length film about Ceará titled As vilas volantes: o verbo contra o vento, which highlights the encounters between the film and the memories evoked by its narrator-characters, who resort either to words or to their bodies to recall their experiences in the fishing village where they used to live, which is now in ruins, buried and destroyed by the strong winds that continuously displace the dunes in that region. Thus, the text shows how "narrating an event" expands as it is not restricted to the verbal, but rather embraces the body in its expressiveness and autonomy, even when it is silent and has nothing to say, or when it forgets.
