- Abstract
In this metallogenic study, we propose that ore-forming fluids play a vital role in massive manganese and barite mineralization in eastern Guizhou and its adjacent areas, although sedimentary processes may be also involved. In the research area, we documented black shale-related deposits formed between Neoproterozoic and Early Paleozoic. The deposits include, but not limited to, manganese, barite, phosphorous, nickel, molybdenum, vanadium, uranium, and shale gas. Moreover, we propose that Tongren Paleo-rift basins of the newly discovered northwestern-trending basement could be the regional ore-forming structures for these deposits. Field evidence suggest that the massive manganese and barite ore deposits locate at the intersections of east-west-trending rift basins, syngenesis faults and secondary graben basins. Based on the above-mentioned proposals and discoveries, we established regional metallogenic models that have led to the breakthrough of manganese and barite ore explorations.
