- Abstract
Los hidrogeles son polímeros hidrofílicos entrecruzados y han sido ampliamente estudiados en diferentes campos tales como aplicaciones biomédicas, así también en procesos de tratamiento de aguas [1]. Para poder utilizarlos, los hidrogeles necesitan tener propiedades físicas y químicas adecuadas. Una manera de modificar las características finales del hidrogel es la funcionalización química o la formación de compositos mezclándolos con diversos materiales (arcillas, nanopartículas metálicas, nanocelulosa, entre otras) de manera de generar un nuevo material con propiedades mejoradas [2]. En el presente trabajo se sintetizaron una serie de hidrogeles basados en monómeros vinílicos con grupos funcionales de amonios cuaternarios (PClAETA). Con el fin de mejorar las propiedades mecánicas del hidrogel, se preparó también en presencia de diferentes porcentajes en masa de nanocelulosa fibrilada (NFC) obtenida de acuerdo a la literatura [2]. Los bio-nanocompositos fueron caracterizados por SEM, TGA y FTIR. Además, se realizaron estudios de porcentaje de hidratación y de remoción de colorantes orgánicos con este material. Los resultados muestran una adecuada incorporación de la NFC en el hidrogel generando un material de aspecto homogéneo, lo cual también se ve corroborado por SEM. La caracterización por FTIR muestra señales de los grupos funcionales del polímero PCLAETA. El estudio hidratación evidencia diferencias entre el hidrogel e hidrogel/NFC, observando mayor grado de hidratación en el hidrogel puro Finalmente, este nuevo material mostró eficiencia en la remoción de anaranjado de metilo desde solución acuosa, lo cual lo hace un material prometedor para eliminación de contaminantes orgánicos.
