- Abstract
An essay is presented concerning the possible transition among Islamist movements in the Middle East from a focus on Islamic ideology to democratic concepts such as as citizenship, religious toleration, and pluralism as of 2013. The article discusses entities such as the Tunisian Ennahda Party, the Party of Justice and Development in Morocco, and the Egyptian political organization known as the Muslim Brotherhood. It also discusses the impact of the Arab Spring.
