The article discusses the importance of nonverbal communication for athletic trainers and therapists. The nuances of meaning conveyed by tone of voice, type of eye contact, posture and facial expression are analyzed and it is noted that an exercise therapist can affect an injured athlete's perspective considerably by nonverbal cues.
