- Authors
Hansen, William E.
- Abstract
The article presents information on organizational recruitment. The personalities of researchers and practitioners may be equally important barriers to recruitment. The art of recruitment may defy cookbook procedures. Similarly the personalities of researchers and practitioners may be equally important barriers to recruitment. Recruitment is essentially political in nature. In school systems, knowing key players, understanding their agendas, providing them with benefits, minimizing their risks and enhancing their power is paramount. Informal networks among school administrators are effective at altering a research team's potential for entry into a system. The science side of organizational recruitment issues include the effectiveness of such strategies as top-down versus bottom-up recruitment and the effect of engaging in cooperative activities outside the singular domain of the project versus narrow-focused involvement with districts.
