A hyperechogenic plaque, measuring 9 × 5 mm, was found in the lumen of the intrahepatic umbilical vein at the junction of the left and right portal veins, indicating an embolus (Figure 1a). The irregularly shaped thrombus located at the junction of the intrahepatic segment of the umbilical vein and the portal vein extended into the ductus venosus, obstructing the whole lumen, but could be isolated easily from the venous wall (Figure 2b).
