- Abstract
An emerging body of evidence suggests that the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) may predispose patients to venous thromboembolism (VTE). Due to its role in promoting hypercoagulability, SARS-CoV-2 infection is included as an independent risk factor for VTE. Severe illness in a suspected COVID-19 patient should be managed as a confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection.
