- Abstract
The objective of this study is to describe embryonic body posture preference, symmetry and lateralisation during periods of rest. Transvaginal four-dimensional (4D) ultrasound datasets of 30 minutes were acquired at 9-weeks gestational age (GA) and analysed longitudinally (i.e. per frame) per patient using Virtual Reality (VR) techniques. Four-dimensional ultrasound examination revealed variation in embryonic body posture (both intra- and inter-individual), (a) symmetry and lateralisation already at 9 weeks' GA.
