Questioning indigenous management.
- Authors
Srinivas, Nidhi
- Abstract
The article explores the concept of indigenous management in the context of Management and Organization Studies (MoS) in India. It discusses the different historical approaches to indigenous management, including the debate between universalism and nativism, the search for indigenous equivalents to universalist concepts, and the consideration of indigenous management within its points of national origin. The article raises questions about the meaning and scope of indigenous management, including who it is for, and suggests that a focus on the needs of marginalized groups and a recognition of the changing nature of identity are important considerations in the pursuit of indigenous management.
