Abstract
The article offers information on the plant pest Lymantria mathura which is commonly known as rosy gypsy moth. L. mathura attacks species of Betula, Castanea and Juglans. Outbreaks of this pest usually occur one in four years. Symptoms include the defoliation of host trees. Characteristics of caterpillars and adults are considered to distinguish species of moths.
