This article, titled "Editorial: Genetics, genomics, and breeding of edible mushrooms in Asia," discusses the research progress and importance of studying edible mushrooms in Asia. The article highlights that Asians have a strong preference for consuming edible mushrooms, and the mushroom industry in Asia accounts for over 85% of the world's total production. The research topic focuses on various aspects of edible mushrooms, including genomics, development and regulation, breeding, disease and pest control, and continuous cropping obstacles. The authors emphasize that research on Asian edible mushrooms is rapidly growing and suggest that more research will continue to emerge in the future.
